Sharing is caring!

These fun and silly dance songs for toddlers and kids found on YouTube will help them burn off some energy! These are my toddler and preschooler’s favorite dance songs to practice gross motor skills, following along with movements and keeping to a beat!

My kids love to dance! Whenever they start getting restless with our usual indoor activities, I turn on YouTube and we work our way through these silly dances.

Not only is it great exercise for them, it also helps them practice following directions, listening to music, and keeping rhythm. Each of the songs has a dance or movements that go along with it!

Dancing also burns off a little energy and helps them get their jitters out! Dancing is one of my favorite gross motor activities for kids. It can be done anywhere and my kids are always willing participants.

These upbeat songs are a bit different than classic nursery rhymes. They encourage your child to participate in large movements and really get into the music.

These songs are great for all young kids. From one year olds to elementary aged kids, everyone loves to break it down on the dance floor!

Fun Dance Songs for Kids

“The Goldfish (Let’s Go Swimming)” – Laurie Berkner Band

I put this one first, since this is my preschooler’s favorite song to dance to. It’s a really silly dance song that gets them giggling, but they also love the movements, too.

It’s very interactive, and has a great tune. We find ourselves singing it all day long!

This song will encourage your child to move their arms, legs, and get on and off of the floor. This is one of our favorite kids dance songs because it really engages all of their muscles and makes them giggle with the silly lyrics.

The best way to get your child to participate is to join in with them. Let loose and get dancing!

“We Are The Dinosaurs” – Laurie Berkner Band

My dinosaur-obsessed kiddo loves this one! And there’s a good reason – it’s one of the best dances songs in my opinion.

For starters, it’s fun to have permission to stomp around the house. Doing something that feels naughty is a great way to engage little kids.

The tempo of the song changes throughout, and she loves when it speeds up then slows down. This dance song is on the daily rotation at our home and really gets the whole family dancing.

“Baby Shark” – Pinkfong

Unless you live under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard this iconic song before. It’s one of the catchiest songs there is!

I included Baby Shark because it really is a fun little dance for kids and has movements that correspond with the words. And if your children love imaginative play, there is plenty of opportunity to make believe with this song.

“Tooty Ta” – Jack Hartmann

Not going to lie, I find this dance hilarious! And so do my kids!

Is it a little annoying? Sure. But what kid’s song isn’t?

Tooty Ta is great for learning sequences and patterns. The dance keeps building throughout the song, and by the end you’re doing some silly moves. It’s one of our favorite fun and silly dancing songs for kids!

It’s always great fun to do something that feels totally ridiculous. This fun dance song has the best moves. It’ll be sure to get any kid out of their shell!

“Freeze Dance” – The Kiboomers

Freeze dance is a hit at our house!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ve likely seen videos of my kids dancing to it.

When my 3 year old goes to dance class, the teacher almost always plays this song to get kids warmed up and ready to dance. It also gets their ears tuned in to listen to instructions. Plus, the Kiboomers have several variations of Freeze Dance on their page so you won’t get bored of doing the same dance all of the time.

Freeze dance is a great way to practice following instructions and controlling impulses. It’s fun to freeze in a silly pose, too!

Add this dance to your next family dance party for a lot of fun.

“Animal Freeze Dance” – The Kiboomers

Similar to the other Freeze Dance video is Animal Freeze Dance.

This is a really fun and silly dance for kids! It’s really cute to watch them act out the different animals. I encourage my kids to make the animal sounds for an extra-silly show.

Add this one to your dance songs list for when your kids need a brain break.

“Penguin Dance” – Jack Hartmann Band

It’s no secret that kids love animals! In this silly song for toddlers, you’ll get plenty of opportunities to dance like a penguin.

The penguin dance is a fun song and will help your child learn to isolate different areas of their body.

This dance is also a great way to learn right from left and is one of the best songs for learning different body parts.

“Elmo Slide” – Sesame Street

I love Sesame Street! It teaches such great values and stays current with the times.

The Elmo Slide is a really fun and upbeat dance song for kids! It has a great beat and Elmo’s energy always gets my kids’ attention.

“Milkshake” – Koo Koo Kanga Roo

My daughter came home from preschool one day singing this song and we about died giggling!

It’s everything you want – silly, funny, simple, and has a dance routine with it. It’s a hysterical kids dance song to get those wiggles out!

Honorable Mention: “It’s Raining Tacos” – Parry Gripp and BooneBum

This song deserves an honorable mention. It doesn’t have its own dance, but oh my goodness is it a fun song! My kiddos think it’s the silliest thing ever and break it down freestyle.
