10 Cool and Trendy Boy Names

Sharing is caring!

There has been a major shift in baby boy name trends over the years! These trendy baby boy names are some that you may not have seen coming.

It’s becoming more and more common to name your child something unique! I love this trend, and think it’s so cool that people are getting creative with their baby names.

The names I chose from this list are ones that are rising to the top of the popularity charts! I trended the name from the year 2000 all the way to 2018 to see how they’re ranking.

I used the Social Security Administration baby name data to compile this list. If you aren’t familiar with this list, it gives the top 1000 baby names for each year organized by the number of births.

What’s cool about this tool is that you can search by the name, state, and region to determine where and when the name was most popular! It even has data that goes back to the 1800s. Pretty neat!

Some of the names surprised me, so I’m sure there will be one that surprises you, too!

These trendy boy names are cool and edgy, so it’s no surprise they’re climbing the charts.

Cool and Trendy Boy Names

1. Axton

This name didn’t even make the top 1000 until 2012! It rose from 923 to 595 in 2018, make a huge leap in popularity!

2. Asher

From 578 in 2000 to 47 in 2018, Asher definitely surprised me in how quickly it rose to fame!

Bachelorette stars Desiree and Chris Siegfried named their son Asher back in 2016.

3. Stetson

Stetson is new to the rankings page! It first made the top 1000 back in 2013 when it claimed number 949 on the list. In 2018 it sat at 582, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it climb further in the coming years.

4. Crew

With popular HGTV couple Chip and Joanna Gaines welcoming their son Crew back in 2018, I’m sure that this name isn’t done climbing the charts yet!

Back in 2011 it ranked 942, but it climbed to 573 by 2018.

5. Gideon

Gideon was one that definitely shocked me in its rise to fame! At only 880 back in 2010, it was well into the top 500 by 2018 where it settled at number 308.

6. Beckett

In 2006, Beckett was low on the popularity chart at only 753. By 2018, Beckett climbed to 227! Beckett is a name that is easy to say and spell, so it’s not shocking to see it grow in popularity.

7. Brantley

I know a few Brantley’s where I’m from! In 2010 this name made it to the top 1000. From 736 in 2010 to 193 in 2018, I think we’ll see it rise even further when the 2019 data is released!

8. Weston

Weston wasn’t one that surprised me too much, but it definitely feels trendy to me. From 397 in 2000 to number 102 in 2018, I think we’ll this name hang around for a while!

9. Easton

This name made one of the largest jumps on the list! From number 581 to number 66, this name made a huge leap from 2000 to 2018!

I was a bit surprised to see it surpass its counterpart Weston, but I’m happy to see that Easton is growing in popularity.

10. Dax

Maybe it’s due to the rise in fame of actor Dax Shepard, but Dax has been climbing the charts over the past few years!

Dax did not make the top 1000 names until 2007, and it rose from 933 to 453 in 2018. That’s a pretty solid jump!
